The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised the choreography of the action sequences, exploration and representation of Asian culture, and the performances from the cast, particularly Liu and Leung. It has grossed $324 million worldwide, making it the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2021. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings premiered in Los Angeles on August 16, 2021, and was released in the United States on September 3, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. Production resumed in August before completing in October, with additional shooting occurring in San Francisco. Filming began in Sydney in February 2020 but was put on hold in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the first Marvel Studios film with an Asian director and a predominantly Asian cast.
